The conference
SEA 2027 brings together researchers working across communications, autonomy, security, health, energy, aerospace — and the blue technologies that a coastal nation depends on. Aqaba is not a backdrop. Jordan’s entire coastline is 27 kilometres long, and almost every question this conference asks lands on it.
Accepted and presented papers are submitted to IEEE Xplore. The programme runs in person at Aqaba University of Technology and streams in full for remote participants.

Three days in Aqaba, on the Red Sea. Hybrid — every session is streamed.
Seven tracks
Each track is chaired independently and reviewed on its own terms. Papers that cross tracks are welcome — submit to the closest fit and say so in the cover note.

The physical and logical fabric that moves information — from antenna elements to planet-scale networks.
Track 02
Machines that sense, decide and act — power electronics, control, autonomy and the factory floor.
Track 03
Keeping connected systems safe, private and accountable as they take on consequential decisions.
Track 04
Engineering that reaches the patient — instrumentation, imaging, wearables and clinical decision support.
Track 05
The track this conference was built around. Engineering at the water’s edge, on a coastline that depends on it.
Track 06
Generating, storing, moving and trading energy in a system that has to decarbonise while staying up.
Track 07
From runway to orbit — avionics, propulsion, small satellites, remote sensing and air traffic in transition.
The setting
Aqaba is the only place in Jordan where you can dive a coral reef before a morning session and watch the sun go down over sandstone the same evening.
157 species of hard coral and more than 500 of fish, inside a marine reserve that covers a quarter of the national coastline — and most of it entered from the beach.
UNESCO-listed in 2011, and the stand-in for another planet in Dune, The Martian and Rogue One. An hour from Aqaba, and dark enough at night to see the Milky Way from the sand.
